Ohkay, so here's my post about Americaland. It's gonna be long and rambly so only read it word for word if you love me or you just reeeeaaaally want to know about the trip. Otherwise, skimming over the rambly parts is recommended. Basically it was long bus ride, sightseeing, shopping. It was fun, yeah, but the weather made it pretty bleh. We went there for nine days and it rained for eight of them. The fog obscured most of the sight we were supposed to see (and take pretty pictures of.) And our tour guide, frankly, sucked. Poor organization bad timings etc etc etc. And he couldn't tell us about the touristy places like the Grand Canyon because "I very long never go, it'll have changed a lot since then." But still, how many people get to go to America? And celebrate their birthday there? So I'm still very, very happy. San francisco was great - it's a pretty old town, not much happening, but I liked it because it was so peaceful. And the houses there were so pretty - straight out of the Luxe series. There's a big Chinese population there, too, the biggest in America. There was a shopping mall there, too. I saw a Vans store, but my mum said we could get them as we were walking back to the entrance. Soooo we went to the Gap outlet store. I got a nice denim dress. And a tank top at Hollister. That was pretty much it for me. But there wasn't any time to get my Vans :( Then a looooong bus ride. On the way we went to this awesome outlet mall, but I couldn't get much because we were given AN HOUR to spend there, and my mum was buying Coach bags like there'd be a Coach famine coming soon. My dad was asleep on the comfy benches they had for tired dads to rest while their wives shopped, so we had to stay in there with my mum. Like we couldn't find our way back to Coach by ourselves; I think their store signboard is bigger than the Cedar crest at the front gate. But eventually my dad woke up and I went to get a new bag and wallet. Not from Coach; I'm damn paranoid about branded stuff, just from a normal store. And after that we went to VEGAS :DDDDDDDD Get up and shake the glitter off your clothes now, that's what you get for waking up in Vegas! I wanted to sing that very loudly as we drove into Las Vegas Boulevard but there were other people on the tour bus and people outside of your family are often less willing to put up with strange behaviour. We went on a night tour - no, not of the clubs, bodoh, the youngest kind in our tour group was like seven years old. Just of the sights around Vegas. They had a musical fountain, and...well. Everything else was pretty blah because we went into all these shopping malls and I was too busy staring wistfully at all the glossy designer brands to pay attention to what the tour guide was telling us about. Yeah, we went into shopping malls...not to shop. What is this????? Grand Canyon after that. It was raining. Sooooo...yeah nothing much. But the day after that was free and easy, so we went SHOPPING :DDDD We were given the whole day there and I still didn't get anything. Wanted to get Vans, but most of the time was spent in Nike and Adidas. Walked around, but couldn't find anything nice in my size. Well, there were plenty of shoes in my size - 7 - but the tour guide told us to get shoes a little bigger than our size because our feet expand when we're in a hotter climate back home. That is honestly the stupidest thing I've ever heard, but just to play it safe I looked at the 7.5 sizes. Finally got a nice pair at Reebok, though. And after that my mum went to Coach AGAIN and Kate Spade too. No time to get my Vans D: But ZOMG - this is probably the highlight of my trip -WE WATCHED CRISS ANGEL LIVE IN OUR HOTEL. OHMYGAWD CRISS ANGEL. DO YOU KNOW WHO HE IS. YOU'D BETTER. No words to describe it. No. Words. He really is the best. The magic was great, and his assistants were farney as well, so in between tricks they did a great job of keeping the crowd entertained. "Okay, sir, I came up with a premonition before this show. Do you know what it is?" "No?" "AH-HA!" -flips over cardboard sign, big NO written on it "See? See, I got it right!" That was the assistant, btw, not Criss Angel. Pictures should be going on fb when I can be bothered to post. I don't really like uploading pictures from Blogger. Then after that, another long drive, another shopping centre. This time I DID see Vans, but AGAIN, no time because my mum wanted to go to Kate Spade, and I wasn't mean or selfish enough to deprive her. (My dad conveniently disappeared somewhere. I don't know where.) Still though. She already got like twelve bags. All I wanted was one pair :( But then, I suppose Kate Spade and Coach is mad expensive in SG. Vans cost more here, obviously, but not that much. But...awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Then back to same outlet mall while in Vegas (we had to pass it while driving to LA) where once again, my mother got Coach. We had to buy a new suitcase. HAHAHAHAHA. Not even kidding. And then to LA! We were given twenty blardy minutes to walk the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I swear man, I seriously hatehatehated the tour guide then. Who the hell gives TWENTY minutes for the Hollywood Walk of Fame? Rawrrawrrawr. Got good pics, though. And we drove around Beverly Hills (not exactly; more like the outside, because all the rich people live there and security is really tight.) And Sunset Boulevard. Am getting lazy to describe, I'll let the pictures do that. Then Universal Studios! There were less rides than in Singapore, more attractions. Like 4-D shows, etc. I skipped The Mummy and Jurassic Park rides because I thought there'd be sudden drops all over the place for The Mummy and the Jurassic Park ride had an 84-foot drop. I am really fucking scared of falling, even if it's in a metal seat. As it turned out, I found out from the other families on tour that The Mummy only had, like, jerking and creepy stuff jumping out at you, and just one drop. Sadly I only found that out AFTER we left universal studios. The Simpsons Virtual ride was great, though :D Disneyland was great, though like Universal, it was way too crowded. Well, of course everywhere is crowded on Christmas Eve and Christmas, but we couldn't even walk properly anywhere. It was like Chinatown on CNY minus the firecrackers and cheena music. The queues were insane. Like two hours' waiting time to go on a ride. But once again, how many people get Universal Studios Hollywood and Disneyland for Christmas? Like I said, I'm happy, and I seriously felt like the luckiest girl alive when we watched the parade and fireworks at Disneyland, because it was Christmas and my birthday, depending on which time zone. Sure, it was raining. But oh well, suck it up, take it or leave it, and even if I'd known there'd be bad weather all the time on this trip from the start, I'd have taken it. And after that was the plane ride home, and I got a birthday cake on the flight because the tour guide arranged it :D And then I went home and showered and couldn't sleep because of the jet lag, so I went on facebook and got reconnected with the world, and replied to all my happy bday messages (THANK YOU AGAIN, by the way, dear friends and strangers) and went to bed at 4am and woke up at 4pm the next day feeling like someone had knocked me out with a mallet. And my fingers are seriously aching with all this typing so TAGGGGGGG!!!!!!! 6:34 PM
